holiday poetry

okay, here's an update, tank.

to you i give my holiday greetings
and i don't mind saying the word
christmas,
although holiday has a very special meaning.
the word holy means set apart
i don't know what iday means,
but maybe if you respell holy,
you get holi.
therefore a holiday
is a set apart day.
"set apart for what?" you say?
well, for whatever the holiday represents
and this next one,
though we get many presents,
represents something with more fragrance.
the birth of Christ Jesus our savior.
to many this name
has an offensive flavor,
though for me
it's an aroma to savor.
if one reads the Bible he'll clearly see
that the real meaning of this holiday
has nothing to do with a tree.
rather, it's about a baby who came in a manger
and live in the flesh
and die on the cross
for you and for me.
merry Christmas and happy holidays

what i scored on the quiz i took

The Lord
You scored 23% Cardinal, 51% Monk, 41% Lady, and 64% Knight!
You are of the intellectual breed and yet you are also very interested in war. You are of the aristocracy and head the cavalry a safe distance from the carnage of the front lines. You believe in defeating your enemy with not only might, but also wit.

You scored high as both the Monk and the Knight. You can try again to get a more precise description of either the Monk or the Knight, or you can be happy that you're an individual.

pretty cool, huh?

New Blogger!

There's a new blogger in town! Allow me to introduce you to the wonderful, astounding, thoughtful, serious but not so serious, incredible, edible (he's not an egg and maybe not really edible!), horse ridin', pyromaniac, the one and only..........ROSS RIGGAN!!!! (applause and wistles) www.reallyseeing.blogspot.com Check it out now, funk soul brothers and sisters!

So life is pretty busy and unclear as to the future right now. I don' t know what the future holds and neither do you so stop trying to guess and get on with living like you're supposed to. Okay, hope all of you have a good day. Pray for me. The battle is everyday and hard, must be prepared for, and God is faithful and His Spirit is working for us to conform us to the image of His Son Jesus Christ and is praying for us with groanings too deep for words! Thank God for His grace.

Albert Pujols!

Albert Pujols is THE MAN!!!!! In the ninth inning last night, the Cards were down 4-2. If the lose, their season ends. Brad Lidge gets the first two outs, then with two strikes on him, David Eckstein singles to left. Brad Lidge then walks Jim Edmonds to bring up Albert Pujols. The second pitch is smashed above the train tracks above the left field side of the stadium. He CRUSHED the ball. I've never seen anyone hit a ball so hard. The Houston stadium was silent. They were just roaring because all Lidge had to do was get one more out and they go to the World Series. What a clutch hit for Albert Pujols! He's THE MAN!!!

GO CARDINALS!!!

The Cards are whoopin' it up right now. Up two on San Diego. Daniel got me one of the last ever Game Day Magazines from the regular season at the current Busch Stadium as we know it. That was awesome! He didn't even make me pay for it. What a guy! Tomorrow's my birthday. I don't know what I'm going to do yet. Maybe I'll go crash at Jarreld's. Would anyone like to join me?

fall rocks

Fall is my favorite time of year. Not just because my birthday is in the fall, either. I love the fall because the weather is wonderful and the country is beautiful in Arkansas. I love going to Mt. View in late September/beginning of October for the Arkansas Old Time Fiddle Contest. This year, it is Sept. 30-Oct. 1. That's this weekend! WOOOHOOO!!! There is nothing like going to north Arkansas in the foothills to hear some of the best fiddle players in the state compete for the State Championship. My dad always competes and I get the pleasure of accompanying him in the contest. I hope he makes it to the playoffs this year. I hope the judging is a lot better this year! Every year, the judging has gotten seemingly worse. It hasn't been great the last few years, but there were certain things that happened last year that I didn't like and if everyone knew, noone would like. Unfortunately, the title of being the Arkansas State Old Time Fiddle Champion is losing value. Those who may have won, may not have been the best fiddle player there. In fact, two great fiddle players didn't even make it to the play-offs who should have. John Baird one of the best fiddle players in the state that I've heard, placed behind two fiddle players who are not near his caliber of playing. One was more experienced, but doesn't play as technical stuff as John. The second, (who won the championship) doesn't have the experience nor the talent John does. It's unfortunate that the premier contest in the state has become so meaningless. Still, I love going, and this year will be great to listen and jam with a lot of great fiddle players. You should come!
